We are proud to offer whole cone hops, grown without synthetic fertilizers, without pesticides or herbicides, and hand-harvested in our small hops yard in southwestern Idaho, a prime soil and climate for this crop!
All our hops are gently harvested and painstakingly air-dried (never force-dried) to an ideal 8%-12% moisture content. During the drying process temps are always below 105°F in order to preserve the hops' most potent characteristics.
When ready, the hops are vacuum packed and freezer stored at a temperature that preserves their peak flavor, ready for your brew!
Place these hops in a hops bag, or if you prefer, simply add them to your boil just as they come to you, then strain out the remains as you transfer the brew to your primary fermenter.
Keep unused hops refrigerated until your next brew day!
Ideal Soil & Climate
Idaho
's volcanic, high pH, easy-draining soil is ideal for hops growth! That is why, in 2010,
Idaho
's hops tonnage surpassed
Oregon
and is now the second-most abundant hops producer in the
USA
!
Idaho
has a sunny, hot growing season. The summers here are dry, but crops are irrigated throughout by mountain snowmelt which gradually replenishes our large catchment reservoirs and extensive canal system.
Dry summers mean that hops are much less susceptible to mildew and mold. Compared with other parts of the country, insects and pests are few. So
Idaho
hops grow aggressively and without major impediments.
This is why we are able to offer these organic cones, grown without pesticides, herbicides or synthetic fertilizers, at such a low per-ounce price. Try them and discover a new potency, aroma and flavor!
