    Description

Our American Barleywine is a big, bold, and strong version of the American classic. Complex in flavor and aroma, this sipper only gets better with age. Malt forward, but with significant hopping, this beer is full of character. Malty and rich, with notes of caramel, toffee and raisin, this beer will warm you on a winter's day. Clocking in at 9.6- 10+% ABV, this barleywine will have you savoring the complexity of the flavor and aroma. Save a few bottles to try in the years to come, as this beer will continue to mature and become more complex with age.
For best results, a large yeast starter is highly recommended, or else you will need to purchase multiple packages of yeast. Due to the high alcohol content, purchasing a small package of champagne yeast to add before bottling to ensure carbonation is recommended.
All orders ship with a pack of dry yeast
    Style Overview:
Don't let the name fool you, a Barleywine is still a beer, although it is extremely potent. Fruity, sometimes sweet, sometimes bittersweet, and high in alcohol content, a Barleywine is one of the strongest styles in the known brewing world. Everything about this style is hard-hitting, including the intense fruity and spicy aromas from the hops, the dark plum color, a thick body that causes you to "chew" your beer, the dominant dark fruit flavors, and of course the perceived alcohol content. The difference in the American and British styles is the same as the difference in American and British IPAs - The hops. American Barleywines are extremely hopped to create a tip in the balance between the malt and hop flavors, which gives this style an extra kick in the pants.
